The End of Reason, by Ravi Zacharias

This book is Ravi Zacharias' response to Sam Harris' 'Letter to a Christian Nation 'attacked on religion in general, and particularly on Christianity. Sam Harris and the like of Richard Dawkins and Daniel Dennett have writting books and giving talks openly and hostilely toward Christianity. Ravi calls these 'militant atheists' who try to eliminate the belife in God as The New Atheist. With his wide knowledge in many fields, Ravi convincingly argue the bankcrupcy of atheist worldview in the questions of origin, meaning, morality and hope. Further more, he brings reader step by step in pondering the disastrous result of the logical outworking of athiets worldview.

Those who think and live as God does not exist are encouraged to read Ravi's counter perspective of atheism. Christians who want to know how to defend their faith against atheism would also find this book helpful to them.

Today's Gospel, Authentic or Synthetic? by Walter J.Chantry

This small book (93 pages) is about evangelism. But it is not about method, strategy, and know-how of evangelism. It is a book about the essence of the message we called the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Walter observed that due to our zeal for unity, many organizations, churches, and individuals have lower down the value of truth. He claims, “Our message and manner of preaching the Gospel cannot be traced back to the Reformers and their Creeds. They are much more recent innovations. Worse, they cannot be traced to the Scriptures. They have clearly arisen form superficial exegesis and a careless mixture of twentieth-century reason with God’s revelation.” (page 13).While we blame most of the professed Christian as a carnal Christian (which Walter believes that it is not a biblical concept after all), we should consider the possibility that they were actually never been evangelized at all!

Using the encounter and the conversation between the young ruler and Jesus as recorded in Mark 10, Walter expound on Jesus' message to the young ruler as an essential points to any true evangelism: Character of God; The Law of God; Repentance toward God; Faith; and true Assurance that comes from holiness. Walter argues that neglecting these vital biblical truth of the Gospel in our evangelism and giving them a false assurance will fill up the church with Ishmael's. Because of fleshly haste, evangelists produce 'converts'whom they call sons. But God will not own them. He is looking for Isaacs. (Page 77)

Walter concludes his book with this: "Sincerity and genuine conversion are not the only qualifications necessary for teh work of an evangelist. An ability to convey the Biblical gospel is essential." (page 91).

Read this book. If you wonder why your evangelism and discipleship is producing 'converts' that show no sign of fruits after his/her decision for Christ.

A Faith Worth Sharing, by John Miller

This book was written by John Miller during the last six week of his life. It was John's sharing of his life time experience in sharing Gospel to friends, relatives, family and strangers. The book records lots of real life stories on how the Gospel of Jesus Christ can transform lives. John's conversational evangelism and apologetics full of grace and love is a good model and example for us to learn. In his book, John never hide his weekness and failure, but by his honest sharing and humble reliance on God, he has been an instrument of blessing to many in his life. He said in the first chapter of the book: "Some Christians want to rush in and confront others with the gospel without taking the time to build a relationship of trust. Others are wonderful at building relationships, but never take the next step and lovingly confront their friends with the claims of Christ. I have been guilty of both mistakes. This is when we learn what prayer is all about. As we pray, the Holy Spirit gives us what we need: the right combination of love and boldness as we share with others the words of life."

I highly recommand this book. It will stir your heart and open your eyes on how evangelism is inseparable from a godly lives from which the love and passion of sharing the grace of God comes so naturally.
